still images (1 & 2) from the qp video. the video is made by using free, online techniques to glitch the original qr code. this leads to slightly altered but also heavily abstracted results. qp is low-treshhold, free artwork: anyone can scan the code and see the work – anyone can even make the work since it’s created with open source materials.

when qp is shown offine (3), it’s embeded in an in-situ setup. at the first showing, the video (in a square format) was projected onto an opaque, square piece of plexi. this piece of plexi was hang, slightly tilted, in the hallway in front of the entrance door of the exhibition space – this glass door has the same material qualities as the plexi square. by installing the plexi square this way, it functioned as an interfering yet recognizable element.

the video installation is accompanied by a link to the online work: prints of the qr-code (4) , also shown in a square form. with this presentation the generic qr-code starts to look like a geometrical mozaic and transcends from a functional, technological design into an ancient, symbolistic pattern.
