“When a resonant system is excited, a number of overtones may be produced along with the fundamental tone”

This installation consist of a green and a blue spotlight, pointed at a photographic print, which is mounted at a distance from the wall. Underneath the print, green and blue pigment dye the floor in accordance with the angle of the spotlights.

By doing this, not only does the image becomes a “live” gradient, but the shadows cast by the image form a geometrical pattern of magenta shadows. These shades of magenta are only visible to the naked eye and cannot be captured by a photograph. Instead images taken of the piece have a distinctively fake aura about them.

Depending on the light circumstances of the exhibition space, these hues can range from either subtle/hard to notice to an almost dramatic/dominating presence.
